Wiki Weekend Tirana 2018

Wiki Weekend is an annual event which aims to be the contact point for old and new Wikimedians from Albania. The event was first organized in 2014 and during the years hundreds of Wikipeda articles have been created, improved and translated in the Albanian language, hundreds of photos have been uploaded in Wikimedia Commons and tens of new contributors have joined the project.

In the fifth edition this event is more focused in GLAM and Wiki in Education activities, but it will yet be an great opportunity also for people who are new to the Wikimedia project, and want to learn how to get involved. Wiki Weekend is organized by Wikimedia Community User Group Albania (WCUGA) in collaboration with other partners and institutions. It features presentations, meetups, workshops and edit-a-thons in one weekend fully dedicated to the Wikimedia project.

The event will be organized during the weekend of 8 & 9 December (9:30 am – 4 pm) and it will take place at Open Labs Hackerspace in Tirana. For people who are new to the project, there will be both presentations and hands-on sessions, where the mentors of the activity will guide you through different Wikimedia resources, show you different ways how to get involved and how to make your first edits. The attendees will use the knowledge gained and will work in groups for further improvement of Wikipedia articles with special focus on topics about GLAM and Wiki in Education.

As always, participation will be free for everyone who wants to join, but we do request for attendees to register before the event: https://events.openlabs.cc/e/8/wiki-weekend-tirana-2018
